No one truly knows anything about life. Not even people who've experienced it up to the age of 110. You don't know if your next day will be the last one, or if you'll even live to see the next hour. Accidents happen all the time, so why do people waste time on grudges and greed and revenge? Do something nice for a change. Give a smile to the next person who looks like they need it, or seems to be having a rough day. Make them smile. If they smile, they'll do something nice that day for someone else, and so on.
I also heard a remarkable story told to me by my girlfriend, something that made me stop and say, "Now *that* is a mother." I only say this story now because the child it's about has a birthday party tomorrow/today (it's 1:40AM here) and I want to recognize her.
My girlfriend is the oldest of four kids; next in line being a brother and two sisters. A couple of days before her mother was expected to be induced, the town they lived in proclaimed they wanted to raise her house on stilts because they resided in a flood plain. Her mother was upset and raised absolute hell, but complied; moving her family out of the house those few days before. She went in to get induced as expected and had her second girl.
The amazing part of this was the very next day she had her child she left the hospital to go home and move things out of her house. The very second day; to make sure things went off as scheduled.
I'm sure anyone who has seen a birth of a child, or experienced such a miracle would know it's no small feat to do something to that length immediately after-wards.
It was a briefly told story, but it touched me nonetheless. It made me call my own mother today and tell her simply that I loved her. I hope maybe it does the same for anyone that reads this. Our mothers, though we regress their teachings sometimes, are remarkable people.
An entire entry of thought due to one simple song.
Happy Birthday to Mackenzie, as well. Hope you get everything you want tomorrow, sweetie.
